Sol Legare is a small coastal community near Folly Beach, SC and the home of many descendants of the freed slaves that settled there after the Civil War.  Sol Legare and nearby Mosquito Beach are rich in Lowcountry Africana history.  To learn more about the history of this beautiful place, please take a trip to the restored Seashore Farmers Lodge located at 1860 Old Sol Legare Road.  

 

My inspiration for this collection is to show the beauty of this community and remind us all of the importance of learning about our history and heritage.
